The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Iyorcha Ayu, can’t lead the state to campaign for the 2023 elections.
This was as the governor again accused Iyorchia Ayu of pocketing the funds realised by the party from the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for primaries in May.
Wike had in October accused Ayu of similar offence but the Benue-born politician said there was nothing of such.
Speaking at the 2022 Rivers State PDP campaign flag-off and unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Sim Fubara, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, on Saturday,Wike insisted Ayu has no integrity and he’s corrupt.
The governor said the people of Rivers State are hurt because of the injustice being meted out to the state.
He challenged Ayu to head to court to prove his innocence.
“I repeat it that Ayu is very corrupt. A man that is corrupt cannot lead me and cannot lead my state to campaign.
“If anybody feels hurt, let him go to court and challenge me. Nobody will listen to a man who is corrupt. I challenge Ayu, you are corrupt, you cannot lead me to any campaign. Rivers State will not.
“Ayu is corrupt. Rivers people are hurt. Ayu, you are fighting corruption, how do you fight corruption? I said you took N1bn. I told you, you took the money we realised from the primaries. Ayu sue me.
“You cannot fight Rivers State and go free,” he added.

Wike further said he believes in the party but also believes in equity, fairness and justice.
Speaking further, Wike said the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar must start a government of inclusion and national unity from the party.
He said if Atiku believes in restructuring, devolution of power and that President Muhammadu Buhari appointed 17 northerners as heads of Security Chiefs, he should correct it from the party by asking Ayu to step down for a southerner.
The stadium which was full to the brim with the candidates vying for various offices under the platform of PDP,their supporters and party Stalwarts.
The event was graced by Wike an other members of the PDP G5 – Governor Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).
