The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction illegal while reaffirming the suspension of its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, as well its National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.
This is coming under the heels of the faction’s election of a new Board of Trustees (BoT) for the party.
NPO earlier Reported that the faction had on Friday elected and sworn-in the new board at the residence of the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Reacting to the development, the PDP in a statement issued on its official X handle reaffirmed the suspension of the faction’s leaders over alleged anti-party activities.\
It disclosed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been formally notified of the suspension.
The PDP noted that the suspension of Anyanwu, Bature, and others were in accordance with the party’s constitution.
It reaffirmed its support and acknowledgement of Umar Damagum as the legitimate National Chairman of the party.
The PDP also disclosed that it has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the invasion and assault of the party’s staff by the Abdulrahman-led faction.
The statement read; “The suspension of National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar Bature, and National Legal Adviser Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) for anti-party activities and gross misconduct, remains valid, while Abdulrahman Mohammed, Vice Chairman (North Central), is an impostor and illegitimate claimant of the position of Acting National Chairman.
