A delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) and the management of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery have both arrived at the office of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Dingyadi, for a reconciliation meeting over the ongoing feud between both parties.
NPO Reported that Dangote Refinery’s alleged sacking of 800 workers over their membership with PENGASSAN had incited the feud with the labour union ordering the suspension of crude oil and gas supply to the refinery.
PENGASSAN would on Monday embarked on strike action with members of the union storming sabotaging the operation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the headquarters of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
According to reports, the protesting union members had barricaded the entrance of the three companies.
Meanwhile, prior to the strike, Dingyadi had invited PENGASSAN and officials of the Dangote Refinery for a meeting aimed at curtailing the feud.
In honour of the invite, members of PENGASSAN, led by the President, Festus Osifo, and some members of the Dangote refinery management, arrived at the conference room of the Minister for the close-door meeting which is currently ongoing.
Also present at the meeting is the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkiruka Onyejeocha.
