No fewer than 58 people have been killed with 1,820 displaced in multiple attacks across several communities at Bokkos local government area of Plateau state.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
According to the statement, the gunmen attacked five communities across the local government.
The assault which lasted from the 27th of March to 2nd of April led to multiple casualties and widespread destruction of properties.
The displaced individuals are currently camped at camps in Daffo, Hurti, Gwande, and other local communities.
NEMA disclosed that it is currently coordinating with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Chairman of Bokkos LGA to assess the camp situation and provide urgent humanitarian support to the victims.
The statement read in part; “The attack occurred in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA), Plateau State.
Approximately five communities were targeted.
“The attacks impacted Ruwi, Hurti, Tadai, Gwande, Manguna, and Dafo villages. Gunmen carried out brutal assaults, leading to multiple fatalities and widespread destruction of property.
“Over 1,820 individuals have been displaced. Three displacement camps have been established in Daffo, Hurti, and Gwande, while others are currently being hosted by local communities.
“An in-depth report confirms the killing of at least 52 persons between 27th March and 2nd April 2025,
“Five persons are still reported missing in Hurti. Two critically injured individuals are receiving treatment at Plateau Specialist Hospital, while over 20 others are admitted at Cottage Hospital, Bokkos Town.
“The security situation remains tense. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is coordinating with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Chairman of Bokkos LGA to assess the camp situation and provide urgent humanitarian support to the victims.”
