The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state following a deadly attack on Angwan Rukuba community on Sunday night.
NPO Reported that the gunmen had on Sunday night stormed the community, shooting sporadically at residents.
The first set of gunshots were fired at Angwa Rukuba Junction where gunmen reportedly opened fire on a group of people.
While the actual number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, the state government in a statement issued on Monday by Joyce Ramnap, the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the state, declared 48-hour curfew on the Jos North LGA.
Ramnap said that the move followed a Sunday night attack which claimed some lives and left others injured.
”The Plateau Government in conjunction with the security agencies have imposed a 48-hour curfew within Jos-North LGA.
”The curfew will run from midnight of Sunday, March 29 to Wednesday, April 1,”she said.
The commissioner, who condemned the unprovoked attack on innocent citizens, callled on residents of the area to be calm and law abiding.
She assured the people that the government and security agencies have adopted measures to forestall future occurrence and arrest perpetrators.
