President Bola Tinubu has assured Plateau state residents of intensified security measures to avert the recurrence of the deadly gunmen attack which claimed the lives of over 28 people.
Tinubu gave the assurance while addressing families of the deceased victims of the Sunday attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The President had on Thursday arrived in Jos for a condolence visit to the victims and families of the deceased.
While expressing his condolences to the families, Tinubu assured them that such attack will not repeat itself again.
“To you leaders, I have heard what you said.
“To the victims, there is nothing I can give you whether money in millions, but console you and promise you that this experience will not repeat itself.” He said.
Meanwhile, prior to Tinubu’s speech, the state Governor, Caleb Muftwang announced the President’s approval of the recruitment of 1000 forest guards.
“Let me not forget the approval to recruit one thousand forest guards to add to the security network here.
“This will soon become a reality among other things you are doing, and you have done for us.” Murfwang said.
The governor expressed optimism of receiving Tinubu in his next visit in a joyful circumstance as he held that his visit today is to commiserate and condole the state over the tragic event which occurred on Sunday.
“I’m trusting God that you will come back to Plateau in more auspicious circumstances where we will welcome you with joy and dance.
“Today’s visit is to console and commiserate with us. Therefore, we will not take away the soberness of this moment.” He said.
