Oyo State Police Command has, on Thursday, arraigned a 73-year-old man, Rasheed Olapade, for allegedly stealing property valued at N3 million.
Olapade, of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy, malicious damage, stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 10, at about 4.30p.m, at Folarin Village via Iseyin/Ibadan road, Ibadan.
Ibrahim said that Olapade and others at large, maliciously damaged 3,000 blocks worth N2 million and a 2000 litres Storex tank valued at N87,000, belonging to the complainant, Mr Abimbola Ogunniyi.
He said the defendant also stole one generator worth N350,000, CCTV Camera valued at N450,000 and a cell phone worth N150,000; all totalling N3,037,000.00, belonging to Ogunniyi.
The prosecutor said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by unlawfully damaging the complainant’s property.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 415, 390(9) and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. G. Daodu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Dec. 11, for hearing. NAN
