A rural evangelist, Daniel Ukpo, has reportedly been arrested by the police over Nasarawa over video report of alleged herdsmen attack.
Ukpo’s arrest was disclosed in a post shared on X on Wednesday by fellow evangelist, Isaac Agada.
According to Agada, the wife of the arrested evangelist informed him about the development.
He has reportedly been detained for the past 12 hours since his arrest.
“Our brother in Christ, Evangelist Daniel Who made a video reporting bandits Attack in Agboda village in Nasarawa State has been arrested and in detention for the past 12 hours according to his wife Elizabeth Ukpo Daniel.” Agada wrote.
Meanwhile, the said video of the attack reported to have occurred on Monday night in Agboda village in Nasarawa state had shown residents running in the dark.
Ukpo who claimed to have arrived at the village for a crusade disclosed that the herdsmen were reported to have attacked a group of farmers coming from the farm.
This had stirred unrest in the village as people could been running to safety.
“We came for a crusade here live in Agboda. You can see people running because some herdsmen invade some people that were coming back from the farm.” The arrested evangelist had said in the video.
NPO Reports correspondent reached out to Isaac Agada for further details on the arrest of Ukpo.
He is however yet to respond to our correspondent’s text message as at the time of filing this report.
