The Lagos Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old automobile mechanic who attempted to sell a customer’s car in parts at Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market in Mushin.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen on Monday, said the arrest was made after receiving credible information by officers from the Mushin Division, who swiftly responded to the scene.
According to Hundeyin, the suspect was found in possession of a red Toyota Camry without a number plate, engine, brain box, and the two front tires.
Through further investigation, he said that it was discovered that after receiving the vehicle from the owner for repairs, the mechanic proceeded to the market with the intention of selling the vehicle off piece by piece.
Hundeyin added that the suspect would face charges once the investigations are concluded.
He advised car owners to exercise caution and entrust their vehicles only to trusted mechanics.
