The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over alleged murder of one Faith, a 27-year-old woman, in the state.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s Spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Jimoh, the suspects who were all male and identified as Olayode,27; Temitope,32 and Bolaji 22, were arrested after the murder case was reported at Fagun Division, Ondo Town on the 5th of February.
‘Upon receipt of the report, police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene of the incident, where they met the lifeless body of the victim.
“The body was professionally evacuated and deposited at the State Specialist Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that some assailants, who were initially unidentified, forcibly gained entry into the compound of one Helen at Fagun Estate Road 5, Ondo Town.
“During the attack, the assailants reportedly inflicted fatal machete injuries on Faith, a 27-year-old female, leading to her death,” he said.
The spokesperson said the suspects were currently in police custody and already provided useful statements to aid the ongoing investigation.
According to Jimoh, the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP) has urged members of the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear.
” The CP assured residents that adequate security measures have been emplaced in the area and across the state to prevent any recurrence of such incidents,” he said.
The spokesperson, therefore, reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, encouraging residents to promptly give credible and actionable information to assist the police at all times.
