Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have on Monday dispersed the Take-it-Back movement protesters with tear-gas cannisters in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X by human rights activist and convener of theovement, Omoyele Sowore.
The 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate accused the Police officers of attacking the protesters.
NPO Reported the occurrence of similar clash between the Police and protesters as officers fired tear-gas at the crowd.
The Nigerian Police Force had yesterday faulted the planned protest over its clash with the National Police Day celebration.
It called for the suspension of the protest which was labelelled as ill-timed and mischievou.
Reacting in a post on X, Sowore insisted that the protest must hold across the call as he reiterated his call for the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for allegedly exceeding his years of service.
