Operatives of the Alausa Division of the Lagos State Police Command have foiled an attempted robbery on a tricyclist along the Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, Benjami Hundeyin.
According to the statement, the operatives who were on a routine surveillance patrol spotted a male tricycle operator being forcefully dragged by three assailants attempting to dispossess him of his tricycle.
Upon noticing the approaching Police patrol van, the criminals took to their heels.
Effort to apprehend them by the officers proved abortive as the suspects managed to escape the scene.
However, they abandoned a black bag which contained one Beretta pistol, one live ammunition, one cutlass, one knife, and assorted charms.

Hundeyin noted that intensive efforts are already ongoing to apprehend the wanted suspects and bring them to justice.
He, however, disclosed that the tricyclist sustained machete injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was immediately rushed to the Lagos State Emergency Center by the Police team, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reportedly commended the swift and courageous response of the patrol officers.
He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents and visitors to Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command urges all citizens to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
