The Nigeria Police on Wednesday said its operatives have killed a notorious kidnaper, Isa Dei-Dei who is believed to have led many kidnap cases in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the police, Dei-Dei met his death after leading a shoot out with the police operatives who discovered the hideouts in a suburb of the FCT.
“At about 1015HRS on the 5th of February 2024, operatives of the DFI-IRT, acting on intelligence, got information on the hideout of a notorious bandit group in the surbub of the FCT, led by one Isa Dei-Dei and immediately proceeded to the location for possible arrest,” Olumuyiwa Adejobi, police spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday He said after closing in on them, “they sighted the police and fled.”
He said the operatives immediately went after them, which led to a fierce gun duel.
“In the process, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was neutralized while other members of the syndicate managed to escape with gunshot injuries. “We therefore urge members of the public, most especially medical practitioners, to call our attention to anyone or patients seen with gunshot wounds for further investigation.” he said
Kidnapping has rendered residents of the FCT and its suburbs apprehensive in recent times with criminals invading residential estates to abduct families members.
In some cases, huge ransoms had been paid for release while in some cases, victims were still killed in spite of paid ransoms.
