The Nigeria Police Force has mourned the passing of former Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Parry Osayande.
NPO Reported the demise of Osayande who passed away on Sunday, few hours to his 89th birthday.
The demise of the former Commissioner of Police in Benue and Cross River states came barely a month after the death of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase.
While the PSC had in a statement issued on Monday confirmed the demise of its ex-Chairman the Nigerian Police Force in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, further announced his demise.
The Force described the late Osayande as a distinguished officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities.
While highlighting some of the capacities under which he served during his active years, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commiserated with his family, the PSC, and associates of the deceased.
The statement read; “The Nigeria Police Force regrettably announces the passing of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, CFR, OFR, NPM, mni, who died in Benin City on Sunday, 28th September, 2025, a day before his 89th birthday.
“DIG Osayande was a distinguished officer who served the Force and the nation meritoriously in various capacities, including as Commissioner of Police in several states, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission between 2008 and 2013.
“He also chaired key presidential committees on police reform, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, accountability, and courage in service.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbtokun, Ph.D, NPM, on behalf of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, commiserates with the family, the Police Service Commission, and associates of the late DIG Osayande, and pays tribute to his invaluable contributions to policing and internal security in Nigeria.
“The Nigeria Police Force prays for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for his family to bear this irreparable loss. Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.”
