The Oyo State Police Command has on Saturday commenced probe over alleged threat notes by suspected bandits targeting Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area.
Residents reportedly found two handwritten threat notes on Friday, dropped at the front and rear of a building in Ikoyi-Ile.
The notes warned residents of an impending attack, allegedly scheduled for Tuesday.
According to reports, Ikoyi-Ile is among Orire communities previously attacked, where suspected bandits killed five forest guards of Old Oyo National Park.
While confirming the development, the Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said full-scale investigation has commenced with the individual who discovered the note currently undergoing debriefing.
“The individual who discovered the note is undergoing debriefing.”
“The command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the note.” He said.
Olayinka thanked residents for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance while investigations continue.
As seen in a post shared on X, the bandits had in the short note written in Yoruba urged the residents to prepare for their attack slated to hold on the 20th of January.
