Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered a 75 mobile phones, five laptops, and other electronic gadgets from two suspected thieves.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.
According to the statement, the gadgets were recovered from the fleeing suspects during the RRS operatives’ routine patrol in the Ikeja area on the 5th of October.
The suspects reportedly abandoned two large “Ghana Must Go” bags upon sighting the operatives near Allen Roundabout.
Following inspection of the bags, the operatives discovered 32 iPhones of different models, alongside 38 other smartphones of various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor.
Also recovered were five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.
Speaking on the recovery, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects.
He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters, Alausa, with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaim.
Reacting to the development, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response.
He lauded their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the continuous enhancement of public safety across Lagos State.
