No fewer than 79 motorcycles were, on Wednesday, seized across highways and restricted routes by the Lagos State Police Command.
The motorcycles were, according to a statement made available to NPO reports on Thursday, carried out during the daily routine enforcement ban on commercial motorcycles.
Areas raided for the enforcement include Berger Suya , Kirikiri road, 2nd Rainbow bridge, and Apple junction inward Festac.
While the operation was hitch free at 2nd Rainbow bridge and Apple junction, officials met resistance from the motorcycle operatives in Berger Suya.
The statement read in part; “Yesterday, the agency embarked on its daily routine enforcement on ban on Commercial Motorcycles, popularly known as Okada on the State’s Highways and other restricted routes
“The operation which started around 11.00hrs yesterday visited the following areas
which includes Berger Suya , Kirikiri road, 2nd Rainbow bridge, Apple junction inward Festac.
“A total number of 79 Commercial Motorcycles were impounded in all the areas visited.
“The operation was itch free except in Berger Suya where there was pocket of resistance but was matched with minimal force and tactical superiority of our men.
“However, in all the areas visited, the operation was conducted with the highest degree of civility and professionalism.”
