The Nigerian Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, has vowed to sanction any unit of the Force found wanting as he warned its officers over poor response to distress call.
Adejobi issued the warning to Police Complaint Response Unit after an X user disclosed how he was jilted by two Police officers who he made a complaint to.
The X user, identified as Patrick Okouzi, narrated how he filed a complaint to the police officers over a suspect who defrauded him of N1.5 million.
He recalled how the officers had helped him track down the culprit, recovering N500,000, but failed to get back to him.
He claimed to have reported the case to the Force Headquarters, but was not given feedback.
“I reported a case at Force Quarters, up till today, nothing has been done.
“Two Police officers followed a Tracker I contacted to help me track down a suspect who stole embezzled my money and arrested the wife of the man and took N500,000 from them.
“Up till today, they didn’t give me the money. I took them to Force Quarters and they told me they would handle them. Up till today, no information from the Force Quarters.
“The last time I called, they told me one of the officers was sick, for how long will he be sick?
“Money, I no see, justice I no get. Just imagine I steal N500,000, by now I for dey maximum prison.
“If Force Quarters cannot help me, who would I complain to. I’m still calling them up till today, I don’t want to mention names yet but sooner than later, I will mention names.” Patrick wrote.
In reaction, Adejobi had demanded if the case was reported to the Police Complaint Response Unit.
Tagging the Unit in his reaction, the FPPRO called for a virtual meeting with the Unit as he chastised them over poor response to complaints while vowing to sanction any unit found wanting.
“You are further task your command satellite offices to wake up and do the needful. We have not been feeling their effects as expected.
“People complain they don’t pick calls. Forthwith, Any unit found wanting will be sanctioned. They are to attend to complaints and treat with dispatch.
“We can do better in this regard. Arrange a zoom meeting for me to address them all asap. Notify the head CRU immediately too. Thanks.” Adejobi wrote.
