Governor of Plateau State and Director General of the Tinubu presidential campaign, Gov Simon Lalong, has said that Christians criticizing him for accepting to lead the campaign of a Muslim-Muslim ticket have not established what he has done wrong.
Lalong, who visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, said not even the Pope, head of the Catholic to which he belongs, has not told him he is wrong to promote the campaign of a Muslim presidential candidate who is also running with a Muslim running mate.
Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, who is a Muslim from the South-West, has picked Kashim Shetima, a fellow Muslim from the North-East of Nigeria.
Since his decision, there have been controversies especially with the Christian community in the country crying foul over the decision.
The Governor said though a Christian and Catholic, who has enormous respect for his faith, he was not elected to be Governor of Christians.
Lalong also disclosed to reporters that he was at the presidential villa to express gratitude to the President for the pardon granted former Governor of Plateau, Joshua Dariye, who was freed from prison on Tuesday.
