Popular Celebrity car dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, fondly known as IVD has been arrested in connection with the demise of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
This was confirmed by the Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Monday, saying that the businessman has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, Lagos.
He wrote; “Contrary to claims by family and friends that 37-year-old Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD is on the run, he has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba”
Ogbonna had been accused of having a hand in the death of his wife, following allegations of domestic violence against him by families and friends affiliated with his late wife, Bimbo.
It was gathered by NPO Reports, that Bimbo had confronted IVD over some issues which escalated, in which their home in Megamound Estate, Lekki was set ablaze with Bimbo trapped in the fire, leaving her severely injured, while IVD escaped with minor burns.
She was rushed to a hospital, but unfortunately died afterwards on Saturday 15th October 2022.
Her demise was announced by her sister, Mama Jazz, who accused the Lagos-based businessman of killing her.
Bimbo’s family had earlier claimed the car dealer has been on the run since his wife’s death.
“Several times during the course of their marriage, we intervened in a bid to rescue her from a terrible situation that ultimately has now taken her life,”
“The perpetrator of this dastardly act, her husband of 16 years, Ikenna Darry! Ogbonna, an auto dealer widely known as IVD, is currently on the run, hoping to evade justice. We know that it won’t be forever.
“As the family tries to come to terms with this terrible loss, we want to appeal to members of the public to join us in demanding that justice is done.” The family said
Ikechukwu and Bimbo were married for 16 years and blessed with five children. It was however reported that the couple had separated before they reunited recently.
