Supporters of suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have again stormed the street on Tuesday in agitation for the reinstatement of the governor.
NPO Reported that Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, were slammed six months suspension following the declaration of state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu in February.
Fubara was suspended alongside members of the Rivers State House of Assembly over the political unrest in the state.
Following his suspension, Tinubu appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd) as Rivers Sole Administrator.
The emergency rule had since been heavily criticized with the last week’s emergence of protest by Rivers women further challenging Ibas administration.
Another faction of women believed to be supporters of former governor of the state and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, had last week rallied in support of the emergency rule while countering the women agitating for Fubara’s return.
However, the Pro-Fubara protesters had remained resolute in their demand as they continued their protest on Tuesday.
According to report, the protesters cladded in black kicked off the march from Aggrey road, Old Port Harcourt Township.
They carried placards containing inscriptions such as, “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara”, “We want back our Governor, we all voted for”, and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People” amongst others.
