A group sympathetic to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Peter Obi, has accused the Department of State Security of preempting the judgement of the presidential election tribunal which is set to rule on Wednesday.
The group, Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization said in a statement on Tuesday that the DSS’s alarm is politically motivated.
The organization said it is aware of the ruling coming up on Wednesday adding that the alarm being raised by the security service is to prevent Nigerians from demanding justice from the tribunal.
The group said it has credible information indicating that tribunal will dismiss Obi’s petition on technical grounds.
“Our credible source from the Appeal Court just informed us that they intend to dismiss H.E Peter Obi’s case tomorrow on the technicality grounds.”
On the claims by the DSS that some people are planning to cause mayhem in the country, the group said this is merely to stop those who would want to show displeasure with the ruling from doing so.
“You will agree with us that the DSS alarm is also ill-conceived and politically motivated to prevent Nigerians from demanding their mandate. We will resist plans to silent the people.”
