A renowned Professor of Dance Studies at the Performing Arts Department, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Jeleel Olasunkanmi Ojuade, has been appointed as the acting vice-chancellor of Crownhill University, Ilorin.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Secretary of Board of Trustees of the institution, Abiodun Dada, on Thursday.
The statement read in part;
“I have the pleasure to write and convey the approval of the Board of Trustees
(BOT) and the Governing Council of your appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor of this great University.
“As the Acting Vice-Chancellor you shall be the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the University.
“As the Chief Executive of the University, you shall serve as the link between the Governing Council and the University Community.”
“The appointment will be full time and you shall not engage in any other gainful occupation without the consent of the University being previously sought and obtained in writing.
“Your remuneration and other benefits attached to the office shall be communicated to you in due course. You shall, within three months of assumption, submit to the Governing Council plans for moving the University forward.

“Should you be found guilty after due enquiry as provided by the University Law of an offence or convicted of a criminal offence involving mortal turpitude or for gross misconduct which renders it impracticable for the University to continue to employ him, then the period of notice necessary to terminate the appointment shall be at the discretion of the University.”
Ojuade is a researcher and dancer, with specialty in Yoruba Bata and Dundun dances.
He also holds a PhD in Performance Studies (Dance) from the Institute of African Studies
He is the President of the Association of Dance Scholars and Practitioners of Nigeria, and a member of several other professional bodies including the Society of Nigerian Theatre Artists, National Association for the Promotion of Studies in Arts and Social Sciences, and Dance Guild of Nigeria.
