The Lagos State House of Assembly was, on Monday stormed by protesters who demanded for the repeal of the cybercrime act and the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, amongst other pressing issues.
NPO Reported that the protesters, under the aegis of the Take-it-Back movement, had defied the warning of the Nigerian Police Force as they embarked on a nationwide protest.
The Lagos protesters had earlier assembled at the Ikeja Under-bridge after they marched all the way to the Lagos Assembly with solidarity songs and placards containing their demands.
However, the protesters were denied access to the Assembly which heavily guarded by security operatives.
In what he described as a warning action, the Take-it-Back Movement’s National Coordinator, Comrade Juwon Sanyaolu, highlighted the demands of the group which include the resignation of the IGP, repeal of the Cybercrime Act, end to the state of emergency rule in Rivers, stoppage of house demolitions in Oworonshoki area of Lagos, and the release of arrested protesters.

“What we are having today is a warning action. Currently, protesters have been arrested in Abuja after they were violently dispersed,
“We are calling for the immediate release of all the protesters arrested in Abuja, Yobe, Gombe and Rivers,
“We are reiterating our call for the immediate resignation of the illegal IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“He should not be holding the office to ransom. He is unfit to continue to hold that office. As a matter of fact, he is holding that position illegally. He has retired. Let him go into retirement.
“This is a warning action, and we are going back to remobilise,” Sanyaolu declared.
He further condemned ongoing demolitions in communities like Oworonshoki and the continued prosecution of activists involved in the #EndBadGovernance protests, warning President Bola Tinubu against failure to accede to their demands.
“If Tinubu government does not accede to our demands, repeal the Cybercrime Act, reverse the illegal emergency rule in Rivers State, stop demolition of houses in places like Oworonshoki and other places, release all protesters that have been arrested, and stop the trial of those who are being charged for treason for participating in #EndBadGovernance protest, like Michael Lenin and others, the next time we are coming out, it will be aluta infinity.” he added.
