Publisher of The Guardian newspaper, Lady Maiden Ibru, has acknowledged ThisDay as the best newspaper in Nigeria.
Ibru stated this during ThisDay’s 30th anniversary and Arise TV 12th award anniversary in Lagos last night.
Speaking after been honoured with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, the Guardian publisher lauded her ThisDay counterpart, Nduka Obaigbena, while admitting that his outlet is the number one newspaper in Nigeria.
“I really appreciate this. It really came as a shock and I appreciate it. Continue to do what you are doing with ThisDay.
“It’s definitely the number one in the country. No question about it. It is afact. I am the publisher and Chairman of Guardian newspaper, but ThisDay newspaper is number one newspaper in Nigeria.” Lady Ibru said.
While ThisDay was established in 1995, The Guardian was founded in 1983 and was regarded as the Flagship of Nigerian newspapers.
