For President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday called for prosecution of all those behind the explosions that rocked Ibadan the Oyo state capital on Tuesday.
Saraki, while reacting to series of tragedies that occurred in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, expressed regrets that many lives have been destroyed.
He said in the last 24 hours, communities across Nigeria have grappled with devastating events.
He added that from “from the explosion in Ibadan, which claimed lives, injured many, and buried property; to the unfortunate fire outbreak in Ilorin South LGA of Kwara State, many people’s lives and livelihoods have been destroyed.”
He also listed the marketfire on Lagos-Asaba road, Agbor; the supermarket fire in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja; to the reports of a fire in Karmo market, also in Abuja saying “news of one tragedy after another has barely given us time to grieve for the previous one.”
Saraki said Nigeria must do more to mitigate such devastating fires, and enact stronger emergency response measures.
“As the authorities continue to investigate all these incidents, it is my hope that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice.” he said
