Nigerian music artist, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has come under the spotlight of netizens as his father, Fatai Odunsi, cries for financial assistance over battle with stroke.
NPO earlier reported that the singer’s estranged father, in a now viral video, claimed that Asake had not been in contact with him since his health issues began in March 2022.
Odunsi, who was visibly suffering partial paralysis on his right hand, pleaded with Nigerians to assist him with funds for his medical treatment.
According to reports, Odunsi was alleged to have abandoned Asake since childhood.
His emergence in the viral video seeking Nigerians help over his health condition sparked mixed reactions from netizens as some slammed him for abandoning Asake while others called out the singer to come to his father’s aid.
“Logically speaking, if you abandon a child at a young age, you forfeit any moral or practical right to seek their help when they grow up. A relationship is built on care and responsibility, and neglecting those duties severs any legitimate expectation of support in the future.” @Bayobets
“No matter how you want to put it, your father is your father whatever he did won’t change that he is not your father, two wrong can never make a right” @Cleverlydey4u
“Women would take responsibilities of unplanned pregnancy, most times they knw the father but the uzeless men wud deny the child. Woman wud suffer, stop and degrade her future to raise a child alone and tomorw he makes it into a rich man.You wud see the uzeless men coming up like parasites to claim” @Kadmaye
“You abandoned the poor boy when he was a nobody, when he needed you the most in his life, you were no where to be found!! Baba remain where you are pls!!😡 U think the child will not amount to anything, but the God has disappointed you, so pls do not come now wt this drama 🙄” @special_Ada_Ide
“If to say him mama self abandoned am and him come turn to riffraff, se him go come outside dey claim am.
Parents stop running away from your responsibility you won’t be young forever. Asake please let go of every hurt. God will help you” @Abiola of Lagos
“It’s now that you know he’s your son Abi ? Let’s even forget the fact that you abandoned him when he was small . Why are you coming on social media ? You can’t guilt trip him sha . He will do what he wants to do . No one should tell Asake how to react Abeg.” @sisiolojuede
“No matter what , Asake should first do the needful first . Assuming the man is not sick and he needs money , it’s another thing entirely …… Asake should please do the needful” @oluwakso
“Suddenly, he is claiming the son he abandoned now that the son is successful. If Asake was not successful, he wouldn’t be coming online now to claim him.” @adeewunmii
“What I can see here is that, if Asake’s father didn’t allegedly abandon him. Asake would not have been what he is now. So if you look at it from a certain angle, the adversity of not having a father to guide him, set him up to be great.” @bookaah
