Nollywood actress,Chioma Ifemeludike, has formally declared the kick-off of her campaign for the November 8 Anambra state governorship election.
Ifemeludike who is contesting for the governorship seat under the African Action Congress (AAC) had earlier on Tuesdays been endorsed by the party’s founder, Omoyele Sowore.
The 2023 AAC Presidential candidate had in a post in his X handle described Ifemeludike as a credible and courageous leader who will lead the state with integrity and compassion.
“Elections have consequences, real ones. That’s why the struggle for electoral integrity matters so deeply; it’s the foundation of a ballot revolution that can genuinely change Nigeria.
“In the upcoming Anambra governorship election, @ife_dike (Chioma Ifemeludike) represents the African Action Congress @AACparty a strong, principled, and people-centered alternative to the recycled phonies who have long held Anambra state hostage.
“She is credible, courageous, and ready to serve. Anambra deserves leadership rooted in integrity and compassion, not deception and greed.
“Vote wisely. Vote Chioma Ifemeludike. Vote AAC!” Sowore had wrote.
Hours after the post, Ifemeludike would in a separate post on her X handle formally declared herself as the flag bearer of the AAC for the election.
Ifemeludike joined the growing list of personalities from the Nollywood industry to vie for political positions.
She followed the footsteps of the likes of Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, and the 2023 People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Lagos Deputy Governorship candidate, Funke Akindele.
Meanwhile, the actress described herself as the best candidate for the position as she eyes taking over the mantle of leadership from the incumbent governor, Charles Soludo, who also seeks a second term in office.
“I am the flag bearer of the AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC) and I’m proud to say that I’m the best candidate on the November 8, Anambra Gubernatorial election.
The light house is about to be lit” She wrote.
Ifemeludike’s declaration had however sparked mixed reactions from netizens.
While some pledged their support for her candidacy, others faulted her looks in the pictures attached to the post.
“I am from Nimo town. I was going to ask: What was your performance track record? What are your antecedents? What would you do for my state? But I changed my mind. Anybody is better than the professor of economic none sense currently occupying the people’s house. Fly, Chioma, Fly” @BenDiaspora
