President Bola Tinubu has on Tuesday declared that there is no more corruption Nigeria.
Tinubu made the declaration during his address at the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) signing in Brazil.
The President had attributed the development to the impact of his reforms which he claimed to have bolstered Nigeria’s economy.
“The reform that I’ve embarked upon since I took over in Nigeria has been very impactful. I can beat my chest for that.
“It was initially painful. But today, the result is blossoming. It is getting clearer to the people.
“We poured money to the economy, no more corruption.
“We have the Governor of Central Bank here. You don’t have to know him before you get the foreign exchange that you need.
“The speculators are out in our currency market. The door is open for businesses. Easy in, easy out.” The President said.
Tinubu’s claim of reform eradicating corruption had however sparked mixed reactions from netizens.
According to some factions, the President’s claim was made within the context of sourcing foreign exchange and not generalized.
Some also held that the President is only promoting the image of the country before the international audience.
Most netizens however faulted the President’s claim.
“The statement was made within the context of sourcing Forex, not generally. Unlike under Buhari where your access to Forex was determined by who you know, things have actually gotten better. So there may still be corruption generally, but corruption in sourcing forex has largely been eliminated.”@tbuzzdaily
“It’s no joke. As the president, he must market the country positively, or do you want him to say there is still corruption?”@ManGod
“You’d be surprised he believes what he said… It is corruption when they’re not involved but once they’re getting their fair share…it ceases to be corruption just business as usual.”@ViktorEdeh
“No sir, the corruption is still imminent at all levels and especially at the level of state governance. Your anti-graft agencies are underperforming when it comes to bringing corrupt public officeholders to book.”@diipodipe
“You just have to identify the trail of corruption and tell us. When will the conversation stop being about suspicion and conjectures. Lay out the accusations directly, let us be a sane and intelligent people for once. Say this and this was a corrupt act to the tune of this and this amount etc. Tell me in that format and I want to believe you are not insane.”@Abills
“When did our president become a content creator to drive the crowd to his page. This is a very good content 🤣🤣🤣”@Ben Samuel
“The crazy part is that they believed him so well and clapped for him.”@Munachi35
“That has to be the lie of the century, maybe that Brazilian president doesn’t have a good friend in Nigeria to ask 😂”@EzehUchenna2525
“He thought he was talking to a fool, forgetting that the truth cannot be hidden and that the world being a global village, his host or guest knew that his claims were false and misleading.”@Ikemkwoaba
“He is right to some extent!”@engrICO2015
“When there is too much corruption there is no corruption 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣”@Crageslim
