Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, has come under fire following video of him addressing protesting residents from an armoured truck.
The residents had on Monday taken to the street hours after the brutal attack on Angwa Rukuba community by gunmen on Sunday.
NPO Reported that the attack had left several people dead with many others injured.
In the wake of the incident, angry residents stormed the streets in protest over the killings, defying the 48-hour curfew imposed by the Plateau State government.
Muftwang would appear at the protest ground with heavy security details.

His emergence from an armoured truck to address the residents was met with jeers as some reportedly ordered him to go back while others held that they cannot hear him from the tank.
Addressing the aggrieved residents in a local language, the governor pleaded for the attention as he claimed not to have slept since the development.
“I did not come because you people asked me to come. I came because I too did not sleep since after hearing of the incident.
“I did not sleep in Jos, but I had to come immediately I heard what happened. I know you people are sad. I know you people are crying.” He was reported to have said as translated by an X user, @homemadecartel.
This however did not suffice for the angry protesters with some demanding the removal of the curfew.
In the same vein, Muftwang had been subjected to heavy backlash from netizens who expressed their disappointment with the governor’s arrival at the protest ground in an armoured truck.
“See how the Governor is surrounded. Why can’t they protect us the way they protect these government officials. Are their lives more important than ours, if they all kill us, who will vote for them, who will they govern? This is not fair oo” @GraceNazza
“Nobody cares about your sleep it’s about you showing accountability and improving the security in your state. So much hypocrisy he’s addressing them from an armored tank.”@iamjlamal1
“It’s unfortunate that we have so many terrible leaders in this country,he can hide in an armored vehicle while ordinary citizens are left unprotected and get killed”@TVNDEY
“Came to address people in an armoured truck, that shows you the level of insecurity in the state… And you let APC urchins gaslight you that the country is safer now, Seyi Law oti s’ofo”@Stevekay36
“Seeing the number 1 citizen of state inside a tank is sickening, it sends the wrong message. It creates distance instead of connection, almost like saying, I’m separate from you, I’m untouchable. That kind of posture highlights the gap between leadership and the people.”@LyfAcrosBorders
“I can understand for one moment the reason he’s inside a Tank but it’s totally laughable that Armour Tanks that should have been better put to use against the intruder had to be deployed against the innocent Masses, whether you where able to sleep it’s solely up to you because we know that line is just a BS, you slept very comfortably in your AC, and your message is totally irrelevant to Nigerians if this events don’t get a permanent end.”@kufrekoffi
“Armored tank keh??? Omoh this matter Dey very deep if you look into it. Could it be he himself is afraid of att@cks?? Who’s really using this people cause the person must really have power, seems like negotiation gone wrong. IMO”@William19Prisca
“This weak earthworm is so scared that he had to address hos people from inside of a military tank. They can’t run or hide. The evil they overlooked is here to catch up with them.”@Davidfolksy
