Barely a day after a violent clash in the state which left over six people dead and several others injured, the reinstated local government chairmen and councilors of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have taken over the LG Councils across Osun state.
The council leaders who were initially sacked by a High Court ruling in November 2022, were reinstated by a controversial verdict of an Ondo Court of Appeal.
The Appeal Court ruling on the 10th of February had incited fierce argument between the ruling party in the state, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC.
NPO reported the imminent violence which the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, also warned about at a Press Conference held on Sunday.
The governor had accused his predecessor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of inciting violence and civil unrest in the state as he allegedly charge the sacked LG chairmen and councillors to assume office.
Full scale mayhem would be unleashed on Monday as supporters of the APC clashed with PDP members.
However, several posts on X on Wednesday have shown the reinstated Chairmen and Councillors assuming office following the restoration of peace across the LG Councils in the state.
As contained in the posts, the LG secretariats where the reinstated APC chairmen and councilors haved resumed duty include Ilesa West, Ilesa Central, Ayedaade, Ife East, and Obokun.
