President Bola Tinubu has condemned reports alleging religious persecution targeted at Christian communities in Nigeria.
NPO Reported that certain international platforms and online influencers had alleged that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians.
Reacting to the claims while speaking at the Imo State Governor’s, Hope Udozinma, book launch ceremony in Owerri on Tuesday, labelled the claims as a blatant lie.
The President, at the event held at the renovated Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, maintained that there is no religious persecution in Nigeria.
“They lie all over the place that we have religious persecutions. No!
“We are more developed and civilised and well educated. Hence, we learn English but we teach change too.
“Our Muslim brothers and sisters, our Christian brothers and sisters and fathers are helping us to building the nation. No religious persecution in Nigeria. It is a lie from the pit of hell.” He said.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s 65th Independence anniversary of the country, Tinubu urged Nigerians to believe in his administration’s course towards good governance as he slammed his critics, stressing that they don’t any better.
“Our critics and antics can say whatever they want because they don’t know any better. Their arithmetic has always been wrong.
“We understand financial, engineering, and progressive methodology much better than they do. That’s why we are here. Stay in the course, believe in us because we believe in you.
“Today, there is no state governor that is borrowing money to pay salary.
“I’ve always believed in good governance. Today, Nigeria can say confidently that we have well equipped hospitals and can treat critical illness such cancer.
“Those talking ill of this country should stop doing so. 65 years of independence is not a joke.” He said.
