It's eight years since the death of One of Africa's most talented footballers Rasidi Yekini

The Kwara born soccer star died on May 4 in what is still considered to be mysterious circumstances.

Yekini's reputation soared in 1994 after he scored his first World Cup goal in unique style that left spectators puzzled.

British-Nigeria born journalist Osasu Obayuiwana in his remembrance said "Today makes it eight years since RashidiYekini, the NGSuperEagles legendary striker and former CAF_Online AFOTY, died mysteriously, at 48. These pictures, which I took in 2005 (Yes, 15 years ago) are my enduring memories of him. Rest in peace, Rashidi."

Yekini, who is still Nigeria's all-time top scorer with 37 goals in 58 games, died in Ibadan on May 4, 2012, at the age of 48.

The Kaduna-born player scored Nigeria's maiden goal at a Fifa World Cup tournament, against Bulgaria during the 1994 edition in the United States.

Eight years later, Yekini's efforts for Nigeria and the emotional celebrations that followed, are still remembered in the football world.
