History was made on Sunday at Ikenne, Ogun State, as Remo Stars emerged champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Daniel Ogunmodede-led side became the first Southwest club to claim the title since the now-defunct Julius Berger won over 20 years ago.
With their 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium, the club also emerged the first Nigerian private owned club to win the title since Udoji United’s 1996 feat.
An early goal from Olamilekan Adedayo was all it took for Remo Stars to win their first NPFL title as they top the standings with 68 points from 35 matches.
Despite having three games left, Remo Stars already won the league title with ten points above second-placed Rivers United who managed to accumulate 58 points.
Following the match on Sunday, players and staff joined fans in celebrating the feat.
Ogunmodede was spotted celebrating the win with his wife before joining his players who tossed him the air in wild jubilation.
