The House of Representatives has postponed its planned meeting with the Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday.
NPO Reported that the Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight had yesterday summoned Ibas to appear before the committee today.
The committee Chairman, Prof. Julius Ihonvebere, had stated that the engagement is necessary to ascertain the true state of affairs in Rivers State and ensure that the House remains properly guided in the discharge of its oversight responsibilities in the public interest.
However, the postponement of Ibas’ invitation by the Committee is yet to be officially confirmed with the new date for the meeting undisclosed as at the time of filing this report.
Recall that Ibas was appointed by President Bola Tinubu following the declaration of state of emergency on Rivers in February.
Tinubu had declared the emergency rule and suspended the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, Ngozi Ordu, and members of Rivers House of Assembly over the unresolved political unrest in the state.
