Yoruba language has again gained global prominence, as popular American singer, Robyn ‘Rihanna’ Fenty, flaunts yoruba greetings she learnt from a Nigeria man.
As seen in a now viral video on X, the American singer of Barbadian descent was made to speak yoruba while exchanging pleasantries with an unidentified Nigerian man.
Rihanna could be heard saying ‘mo wa pa’ – yoruba’s translation of ‘I’m fine’ as instructed by the Nigerian man.
She would further repeat the catchphrase as she posed for a picture with the man.
Rihanna had in an interview in 2021 traced her root to the Igbo ethnic group.
She noted that she is primarily an Igbo woman based on her mother’s claim.
“My mom told me that I am originally an Igbo woman.” She had said during the interview.
