The Rivers State House of Assembly has held its first plenary session after President Bola Tinubu’s lifting of their six months suspension.
NPO Reported that the President had yesterday declared an end to the six-month emergency rule which prompted the suspension of the lawmakers alongside the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his cabinet.
Following the declaration, Tinubu had also pronounced the reinstatement of Fubara as the state governor while the Rivers Assembly assumes it function.
In effect to that, members of the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly resumed back to the duty on Thursday.
Amaewhule who reportedly arrived at about 11:33 a.m presided over the informal plenary session.
However, only one item was addressed in the Order Paper for the day, which is a Motion to Set Legislative Agenda for the Remainder of the Year for the 10th Assembly.
While this earmarked the return of democratic rule in Rivers, the state governor is however yet to resume at the Government House where thousands of supporters currently await his arrival.
