- Safiu Kehinde
Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has allayed concern over his alleged disappearance while stressing that his wife’s claims were scripted.
NPO Reported that George’s wife, Florence Nwaeke, had on Friday raised alarm a over the disappearance of her husband following his shocking allegations against suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in a Press Conference.
Florence had disclosed how George had resigned after been cajoled to implicate Fubara.
She also accused former Rivers Commissioner of Power, Henry Ogiri, of inviting George to Abuja for discussion prior to the Ex-HOS’ appearance on TV.
Nwaeke has however appeared in a video shared on X on Saturday as he allayed concern over his whereabout.
He disclosed that he his currently at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, and will be briefing Security Agencies at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over the situation of Rivers state.
As against his wife’s claims, Nwaeke alleged that she was given a script as he denied discussing his office affairs with her.
He, however, reaffirmed that all he said about Fubara during the Press Conference were true and he is ready to submit himself to security agencies if allegations are false.
“Good evening gentlemen of the Press- or should I say good morning. I’m back this evening. My name is George Nwaeke. I’m in Transcorp, Abuja.
“I came here this morning from Port Harcourt to meet with security agencies to report myself and to report the case that has been happening in the state that are making me feel sick.
“Actually, I was the Head of Service until Monday 24th when I resigned because of things that might happen.
“After the Press Interview that I granted, I just saw a video of my wife that is trending where they went to tell her and fed her with all kind of fallacies.
“They told her I’ve been kidnapped. I want to clear this. I am not kidnapped. I’m in Abuja and this is Transcorp Hotel where I’m lodged in.
They told her I’ve been kidnapped and she was crying. They wrote a script for her to say all sort of things. I want to put this straight. I am the Head of Service and I am on oath.
“My wife does not know things that are happening in my office. I don’t discuss anything about my office to her. It’s only my domestic or social matter that we discuss.
“That script they wrote for her is not her voice. I want to clear the air that I am safe, fine, and in Abuja. By tomorrow morning, I intend to go to the security agency and report myself.
“My coming to Abuja was based on the fact that it is where all the headquarters of security agencies are housed.
“So, I came here and I think I’m safe here to make this report.
“They can investigate this. If I lie on any of those things, they can take me up. But I’m reporting what I know and nothing but that and I said everything from my mind. I want to reassure you that everything I said is true.” Nwaeke said.
