The Rivers State Police Command has commenced probe into the murder of a woman, Ms Special Bensington.
CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, told journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday that the victim was killed on March 21.
Iringe-Koko stated that the incident occurred at the Total Gospel area, Off Odili Road, and was reported at the Abuloma Police Division by a resident, Miss Divine Anyanwu.
According to her, Basington had boarded a ride-hailing vehicle from an unnamed hotel on Emmanuel Street, Odili Road in Port Harcourt.

“During the attack, the victim sustained gunshot injuries and was subsequently rushed to the hospital where she died while receiving treatment,” she said.
The police image maker said that the victim’s remains had been deposited at the mortuary for an autopsy, and that the police command has launched full investigation into the killing.
Iringe-Koko further stated that the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation.
“Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. I assure members of the public that those responsible for this act will be brought to justice,” she said.
