Residents and supporters of reinstated Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have dispersed in disappointment from the state government’s house as the fails to resume to duty today.
The Rivers Government House was on Thursday besieged with mammoth crowd largely comprising Fubara’s loyalists under the aegis of the Simplified Movement.
According to reports, the crowd were mobilised from across the 23 local government areas on the orders of their leaders with the hope of meeting with the governor in a show of solidarity after the lifting of his six months suspension.
Identified among the crowd were some of the sacked local government chairmen, including Ambassador Chijoke Ihunwo, Ichemati Ezebunwo, and former factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo.
However, the crowd who had started arriving at the government house as early as 6am were left frustrated after hours of waiting with effort by their leaders to get in touch with the governor proving abortive.
They eventually dispersed from the venue as Fubara failed to appear with no communication from him.
