As Convoy Patrol Commences

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has vowed to apprehend anyone found disturbing the peace of the state.
Adepoju made the vow following the commencement of convoy patrol across the state on Saturday.
NPO Reported that President Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday declared state of emergency in Rivers over the unresolved political crisis in the state.
The President also declared the suspension of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all members of Rivers House of Assembly for a period of six months.
Tinubu would appoint Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, as the Sole Administrator.
Ibas, who had on Thursday assumed office, would manage the affairs of the state within the six months.
Addressing newsmen after discharging the personnel, Adepoju explained that the convoy patrol is part of the Force effort in maintaining peace following the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers.
“The Convoy Patrol is to ensure that the good people of River State are safe and I want to reassure them that there is peace in Rivers state.
“We have sent them out to go on show of Force to let them know that we are ready and continue to assure them that town will be peaceful.
“And for anyone who wants to foment any trouble, we will ensure that we keep him where he belongs.” He said.
On the engagement of the personnel with members of the public, Adepoju assured that the personnel have been lectured and charged to respect human rights and ensure that people’s rights are not being infringed on.
He, however, disclosed that the convoy patrol would last as long as it can- depending on the dictate of the Sole Administrator.
“I have just charged them to be cautious with the members of the public; do their job diligently; and ensure they patrol all the nooks and crannies of Rivers state.
“We have been lecturing them. Their Commanders have equally told them to ensure they respect human rights and ensure that people’s rights are not being infringed on while they are performing their duty.
“This patrol will last for as long as we feel it should and as long as we are sure that the member of the public in Rivers state are at rest and safe and also to the dictate of the Sole Administrator on how event unfolds,” he added.
