Accuses Governor of Interfering with Family
- Safiu Kehinde
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has given his predecessor, Siminalayi Fubara, condition for the restoration of peace in the state.
Wike, in a media chat on Wednesday, held that the only condition for peace and end to the political crisis ravaging the state is for Fubara to do the right thing by re-presenting the 2025 budget before the Rivers Assembly as well as the submission of the nomination list for Commissioners.
NPO earlier reported Fubara’s appearance at the Rivers Assembly complex.
The governor was denied access to the Assembly as the complex was under locks and keys.
Wike, however, maintained that peace is predicated by doing the right thing.
“What is peace? What is more important than letting the right thing be done?
“When the right thing is done, there will be peace.
“But if the right thing is not done, how can you talk about peace? Peace is predicated on doing the right thing.
“Go present the budget; go submit the list of the commissioners.” he said.
While noting that the decision lies in the hand of the Rivers Assembly, Wike vented his anger against Fubara as he recounted how the governor infiltrated into his family and community, removing his chief after being misled that he would win at the Supreme Court.
“If Assembly thinks that he committed infractions and he knows he committed, you find peace. It’s not by gragra. It’s not by threatening.
“Let me tell you this. The governor was misled three weeks to Supreme Court judgement.
“Do you know what he did? In my own family, in my community, the governor came and remove my chief and made another person in my own family.
“He was given the hope that he will win in the Supreme Court so nothing.
“Now you tell me, we have played politics to the level you infiltrate somebody’s family to dabble into internal affairs.
“Sometimes when we talk about this peace, you don’t take everything into consideration.
“You just sit outside to talk without me, former governor, the Minister of FCT.
“Governor has the temerity, the audacity because he has money from Federation Account, because he has money from IGR to enter my own family to remove a chief and make another person chief.
“You look at me of all persons, simply because judicial merchants have told you that you will win, they have collected your money.” Wike said.
