- Safiu Kehinde
An imminent division has surfaced in the Funsegbuwa Ruling House as a chieftain, Prof. Fassy Yusuf, denied being aware of the letter of intent submitted by Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM, for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebu land.
NPO Reported that Ayinde had earlier this week formally declared interest in the vacant Awujale throne.
The Fuji icon, in a letter dated 3rd of December, and addressed to the ruling house Chairman, notified the kingmakers of his intention to be considered for the vacant stool as he declared himself a bonafide son of the ruling house, tracing his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage.
While the chairman of the ruling house had reportedly acknowledged Wasiu’s letter of intent, his Vice, Yusuf, however declared being unaware of the singer’s interest in the royal stool.
He clarified that he was never privy to the letter purportedly written by KWAM nor was he consulted.
The statement read; “A copy of the letter that purportedly emanated from KWAM I, was received in my Law office in my absence on Thursday, 04 December 2025 at about 3.00p.m. Much later, I read from the platform, the response of our Chairman.
“The reactions have been quite overwhelming and naturally of grave concern to me.
“I want to make it abundantly clear that, I, Fassy Adetokunboh O. Yusuf, was never privy to the letter purportedly written by KWAM I nor was I consulted or had any prior knowledge of the response from the Chairman.
“I know KWAM I, but I have never had any discussion with him about his purported Royal ambition. And, nobody whosoever has discussed any such matter with me anywhere anytime.
“My integrity, conscience, probity and conviction remain sacrosanct and impeccable.”
