Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has signed the N4.45 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.
Sanwo-Olu signed the bill at the government house on Monday following the state House of Assembly’s review and approval of the budget.
NPO Reported that the governor had in November 2025 presented a N4.27 trillion budget for the year 2026 before the state’s House of Assembly.
Sanwo-Olu had in his address while presenting the budget christened “Budget of Shared Prosperity” explained that it is aimed at advancing e-governance, fiscal transparency, and citizen engagement.
He had also noted that the budget will see to the continuation of the administration’s approach toward a safer and more inclusive megacity while also prioritising security.
Meanwhile, the Assembly had in the review of the budget increased and passed a N4.4 trillion budget for the governor’s signature.
Addressing newsmen after signing the appropriation bill, Sanwo-Olu reiterated that the budget is an inclusive budget which will cut across every sectors of the state.
“It is a budget of shared prosperity and sharing prosperity means that it is an inclusive budget. It is a budget that moves to carry everybody along.
“Irrespective of what part of the state, what division, what sector, you must feel governance.
“You must feel essence of why we are in government in one form or the other.
If it is on the road that we are going to build. If it is on the school, we are going to build.
“If it is on the health facility, we are going to build. If it is on the various industries and engagements, we are going to have.
“If it is on the various interventions, that we will do to enhance and improve the quality of life.
“If it is for security, that we will provide to ensure the security of lives and properties.
“These are ways in which the prosperity of every Lagosian will be felt in this budget in one form or the other.” He said.
