Former Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has emerged Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Reconciliation Committee ahead of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting.
Saraki was made the chairman of the seven-man committee formed during the PDP’s governors’ meeting held on Sunday night at the lodge of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
As disclosed in a post shared by Saraki on his Facebook page, the meeting had in attendance both the current governors and former governors of the opposition party- including the former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike.
Saraki disclosed that the seven-man committee is charged with the responsibility of preparing for a rancour-free NEC meeting slated to hold no May 27th and the forthcoming national convention.
Other members of the committee include; Zamfara state governor , Dauda Lawal; his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Muftwang, and Enugu state’s Peter Mba.
Also part of the committee were Benue State governor
Sen. Seriake Dickson, Sen. Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former governor of Abia State, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.
Saraki wrote; “I just left a meeting of the PDP Governors Forum, attended by its serving and former governors, at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge. We had a fruitful deliberation on the party’s present challenges and its future.
“The meeting was well attended. As part of the decisions taken to chart a way forward, the meeting set up a seven-man committee charged with preparing for a rancour-free NEC meeting scheduled for May 27th and the forthcoming national convention.
“The committee is headed by my humble self, and I will have the pleasure of working with my brothers – HE Dauda Lawal, HE Caleb Muftwang, and HE Peter Mba, governors of Zamfara, Plateau and Enugu States respectively.
“Other members are Sen. Seriake Dickson, Sen. Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former governor of Abia State, HE, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.
“We hope to do our best in delivering on the assignment given to us.”
Meanwhile, others members of the party in attendance at the meeting were, the party’s National Chairman, Umar Damagum, Osun and Oyo states governors, Ademola Adeleke and Seyi Makinde, and former Sokoto state, governor, Aminu Tambuwal, amongst others.
