The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has declared Wednesday a public holiday in the country following Saudi Arabia’s 2-1 win against Argentina at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
This was disclosed in a tweet by Saudi Gazzette, on Tuesday evening.
The match which held on Tuesday afternoon saw the Arabian side shockingly defeat World Cup favourites Argentina in Group C after an unbelievable performance.
Argentina suffered defeat in the hands of Saudi Arabia despite having the best player in the world at the moment, seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, in their team.
The tweet read, “King Salman orders that tomorrow, Wednesday, will be a holiday for all employees in public and private sectors as well as students in all phases of education in celebration of #SaudiArabia’s stunning victory against Argentina in #WorldCup2022.”
NPO had earlier reported how Saudi Arabia caused an upset in the ongoing world cup competition in Qatar with its two goals to one victory over Argentina on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia pulled off a victory that has left two time world cup winning Argentina in shock.
The South American champions went down to two early goals in the second half of the match at 49th and 53rd minute respectively.
