German Formula One driver Mick Schumacher says he is not feeling any lingering effects from his massive qualifying crash which ruled him out of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
“I’m completely fit,” he said in the paddock on Sunday. “That shows the safety of the cars today.”
The son of F1 record champion Michael Schumacher would have been “ready” to compete but his Haas team did not have sufficient spare parts at just the season’s second race.
Instead, the priority was damage limitation in order to be competitive at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne in two weeks time.
Schumacher smashed his car into the wall of the ultra-fast street course in Jeddah.
He was immediately treated at the hospital on site before being transferred to a different facility by helicopter for further checks.
