Nigerian stand-up comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, fondly known as Alibaba, has advised Nigerian Governors who are building stadia in their states without plans to host major events to stop.
Rather than waste money on projects their people don’t need, the comedian said they should rather go abroad and build such facilities where it can fetch them foreign revenue.
He took to his instagram page on Monday to say that such ventures amounts to waste of public resources.
“Any governor who builds a stadium in Nigeria, in a state that doesn’t host sporting activities that fills the stadium every week or month, has wasted the money of the state.” He said.

The comedian stated that such governors should alternatively construct the structures overseas where the sports culture is strong.
“Instead, go build it overseas in a place where the football culture is strong…and earn your state foreign exchange every week during football season.
He however advised ,that rather than spending money to maintain the stadiums in their states where they are hardly used, the stadium overseas can then pay for the stadiums in their states
“So instead of spending money to maintain the stadium, the stadium overseas can actually now pay for a stadium back home,” He said.
