Nigerians in their droves, have been reacting to the promise made on Saturday by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State during his speech at the declaration for the 2023 presidential race.
Bello, whose declaration witnessed a huge crowd on Saturday at the Eagle Square, Abuja, said he would create 20 million millionaires.
The promise had drawn applause from his supporters who thronged the venue of the declaration.
At the event were former Director General of the MKO Abiola Hope 93 campaign, Dr. Jonathan Zwingina and former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
Daughter of the late MKO Abiola, Hafsat, was also unveiled as the Director General of the campaign.
However, Nigerians have reacted to the promise to make 20 million Nigerians millionaires.
Many comments have shown that the promise by the presidential aspirant has caused mixed feelings among Nigerians.
While some have asked the governor how he intends to achieve his promise, some have demanded to know how many millionaires he has created in Kogi State where he has been at the saddle.
A twitter user Sexy Diva with the handle, @ccta03, faulted Bello for not disclosing how many millionaires he made in Kogi as Governor.
She tweeted, “2023 PRESIDENCY: I will make 20m Nigerians millionaires by 2030, Yahaya Bello promises. “Sadly , he couldn’t tell us the number of people he made millionaires in Kogi State.”
Another commentator, Edibo Jethro, with the handle, @jettymoore, said under Bello in Kogi, those who were millionaires before he became governor became poorer.
He wrote, “Even, the ones with millions became koboless in Kogi during his time.”
Another social media user Maleeqnuhu, with the handle @Maleeqnuhu, accused the Governor of paying only 17% of salaries to Kogi State workers.
“Person way dy pay 17% of salary to his workers won make 20M people millionaires 🤣💔… wo naija go crash if e enter.”
Another user who said he travels through Kogi State when on his way to Abuja claimed that the state of the roads in the governor’s state are terrible.
The user, Wilson C with the handle, @wilsonchuks, wrote, “Anytime I’m traveling to Abuja , Kogi alone takes up to 8 hours due to extreme bad roads . This man is sick 🤣🤣🤣”
Kareem Usman, with the handle @mrkareemjnr said the first four years of Bello as President if he creates 20million millionaires, what will happen to the rest 180million Nigerians.
He wrote, “You vote for the 1st four years? This bro is a 🤡 20million Nigerians? What happens to the rest 180million humans? He just portrayed his incompetence.” Alebiosu Abdulkabir, writing through handle @muhmmad2612, demanded how many millionaires has Bello made of his immediate family members. “Not even his family are millionaires not to talk of people in his state he has strangled anything called money from that state.”
Another twitter user, by the name Steve Destiny with the handle, @stevedestiny, wrote “Oga Yahaya Bello, abeg don’t wait till you become president before you can make 20m Nigerians Millionaires. Start now make we cash out go buy beans first abeg, our eye dey turn. 2023 too far.”
Dami, with the handle, @Geekinqest wrote of the governor’s promise, The same “Yahaya Bello whose state has one of the worse link-road in Nigeria wants to make 20m Nigerians millionaires 😂. Goan make Okene people rich first.”
Yet, another twitter user with the name Puddy Alpheaus, with the handle @PuddyAlphaeus wrote “I weep for Nigeria, Every fool wants to fool Nigerians, hence they all see Nigerians as fools. Yahaya Bello is promising to make 20m Nigerians millionaires as he declares for 2023 presidential election. But how many people has he made millionaires in Kogi state.”
Uthman Isa Tochukwu, writing under the twitter handle, @UthmanTochukwu demanded how Bello intends to achieve his promise with his debt of salaries even in Kogi. He asked, “You want to make 20M Nigerians Millionaires but you are owing 10months salary in your state. And some Nigerians will fall into this cheap fallacy. These guys should stop taking us for granted. What is all these rubbish sef?”
