The Court of Appeal’s verdict on the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leadership crisis appeared not to go down well with the PDP Governors Forum’s Chairman, Bala Mohammed, as he stormed out of the court room following the ruling.
NPO earlier Reported that the appellate court had on Monday upheld the Federal High Court’s ruling which barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the party’s National Convention held last year in Ibadan, Oyo state’s capital.
This implied the non-recognition of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the party.
Meanwhile, the court also affirmed the party’s expulsion of its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, as well all members of the faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The Appeal Court reportedly maintained that the Umar Damagum-led NWC remain the only recongised leadership of the party despite their dissolution following the Ibadan convention.
The verdict however appeared to be largely disapproved by Bala Mohammed who as captured in a video shared on Instagram stormed out of the court premises.
The Bauchi state Governor allegedly declined journalists’ interview request as he hurriedly exited the Appeal Court.
Meawhile, the Turaki-led faction of the party had since confirmed the appellate court’s ruling in a statement issued on the PDP’s official X handle.
